Skala Potamias - Thassos island

A symphony in green and blue.

Woods, thick with plane trees, oaks and cedars. Pine trees leaning gently over the sea. Long, sandy beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters.

This is Thassos, the mythical land of the Sirens that rises out of the sapphire waves in the North Aegean Sea.

Brimming with history and tradition, Greece's Emerald island delights the visitor with its natural beauty. The constant interchange between large stretches of sand, steep green gullies, charming seaside resorts and quaint mountainous villages never ceases to astonish.

Thassos lies opposite the coast of Eastern Macedonia, 18nm away from Kavala. It covers an area of 384 square kilometers and its coastline spreads for 118km all around the island. Starting from Thassos Town ( Limenas), a ring road of about 92km can take you easily everywhere on the island.

Skala Potamias is located on the east coast of the island. Together with Skala Panayias, they make the famous Golden Beach. Awarded with the blue flag several times, Golden Beach, is the longest sandy bay of the island (3.5km). Surrounded by lush vegetation and the crystal clear unruffled sea, the resort offers the visitor all the facilities needed for a memorable holiday.

The Island is served by the international Airport of Kavala, Alexander the Great. The Airport is connected with Athens by daily scheduled flights, and with many European cities by both scheduled and charter flights. 12 km away from the airport is the port of Keramoti, where ferry-boats will get you to Thassos in about 35minutes.
